Two hundred and forty six years ago cook landed on the east coast of australia for the first time. The ship that brought him here was the HMS Endeavour, a british royal navy research vessel. But was life like for the 94 people aboard that long journey to the other side of the world take a look.

It was the year 1748, first lieutenant and his men set sail aboard the HMS endeavour. At 2.00pm we got under sail and put to sea,having on board 94 people near 18 months’ provisions and stores of all kinds. Their aim was to observe a rare event when the planet venus moved across the sun, but they also have a secret mission to find the rumoured great south land and claim it from england. It was a epic three year journey that shaped our country's history but the ship that made it possible sank years later and it's full wreckage has never been found

the legend of kupe

Long long ago kupe and his family travelled across the pacific ocean to get to aotearoa and when

they arrived kupe said this place is bigger than his small tropical islands.

Afterwards a big day at the sea kupes wife saw white long clouds on the border coming to betray land and she returned to her island because of that long and white cloud.

What a huge island that these people found for kupes small tropical islands and snow capped mountains and huge moa birds.

Kupe and his family has heard about the greenstone and that it is a carving and people wear it and they were hunting for a greenstone for years and year's and then they took the one that someone stole and they finally got their greenstone back and put it back where it belongs.

After kupe didn't have any food so they hunted for animals because maoris kill animals and then that's what they eat when they have no food left so they check in the forest and then

they found heaps of pigs and than went on to kill the pigs so that they can eat the pigs.

And before kupe wanted to kill more animals kupe decided to get more because he has a very big family so he sailed across the sea to find more fish and animals to hunt and it took year's and year's and kupe said we can't give up i don't want my family to starve then kupe still didn't give up for his wife or family so kupe didn't find anything so he sailed back to aotearoa to his big island to remind his family he didn't find anything so he just had pigs.

Owika was with Ihenga they were hunting for kai because ihengas wife was starving and owika and ihenga went back and they had fish and a kiwi.

And they were still searching for fish and a kiwi because that was all they could find but ihenga said we have to find more food.

There's a kiwi go catch that kiwi before it gets away but he catched it and he was happy.

And then they found another lake with heaps of fish and they went to get some fish for the baby.

And they went back to his wife and then she said more ok honey and they went to hunt for more fish and kiwis.

He found little fishses and the he spewed out fish and a kiwi and they went to keep on finding more and he said ok.

He’s almost getting there and he said finally were nearly done but find more ok.

After that he got some more and he went back and he gave it to her and she said give it i'm starving.

Finally i got back because he was tired and sleepy and their it is honey eat it up.

Everyone said time to have some kai and they stared saying the karakia before they start eating.

Their your go honey i'm back with the kai and i'm going to tell everyone and then i will cook  our kai time finally.
