Today, the Galapagos penguin is listed as an endangered species as like many species found around the islands, they are endemic to the area and do not adapt well to sudden changes in their environment.

How many galapagos penguins are left in the world?  IUCN - The World Conservation Union designation: Endangered population estimated between 3,000- 8,000 penguins. It is reported that there are about 800 breeding pairs left in the world.
